LOGISTICS BUSINESS MANAGER

Direct Reporting To: CEO
Location Base: HQ

Star Glory Group is an exciting and fast-growing profitable group of companies and has businesses that specialise in selling duty-free products and providing logistics services.

This role will be a key member of the Star Glory Group Leadership team, and is responsible for the full management of the logistics business and services, and accountable to delivering the business results profitably, safely and with satisfied customers, for the organisation to meet the short to long term company’s business and strategic needs. In this logistics business, this role provides a range of services that includes customer services, warehousing, haulage and freight forwarding - land, ocean and air freight activities. As this role has bottom-line profit down to Net Income Before Tax (NIBT) level, it is very important that this role is able to grow the business profitably by seeking new businesses, grow the number of customers and build strong customer relationship management with the key customer accounts.

ACCOUNTABILITY                 

  • Lead a sales team to deliver a profitable business and provide excellent customer focus services in warehousing (3PL), haulage, freight forwarding covering land, ocean and air freight business.
  • Responsible for the bottom-line profitability of the logistics business for the company.
  • Develop a short to long term logistics business strategy and make recommendations to identify best practices, pricing, market trends, gaps, risks and opportunities, and oversee the implementation of these strategies and their initiatives.
  • Grow the business through the identification of new customers and provide a competitive advantage in quality, value/cost, delivery on time and safely.
  • For existing customers, implement Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to ensure customers continue to be delighted with our services.
  • Drive financial, operational and service levels improvement by establishing the appropriate KPIs to measure business performance, perform root cause analysis and resolution, develop and monitor improvement plans.
  • Identify new initiatives to find new sales and costs savings opportunities, validate with Finance, realize and track value generated and costs savings.
  • Analyse spending against budget and business profits on an ongoing basis to identify opportunities, forecast, track and deliver agreed targets.
  • Work with HR to attract, recruit and retain talents to be able to perform at managerial and leadership levels, to support the company’s growing needs for future strong leaders.
  • Provide exemplary leadership to develop, coach, train and motivate all staff to perform at their highest performance level in terms of attitude, behaviours, service and sales contribution.
  • Evaluate staff performance and take the necessary actions as required
  • Design customer complaints resolution procedures and identify remedial actions to address the root cause of the problem.
  • Responsible for timely collection of payments due from customers.

Providing Haulage services is a high safety risk activity; it is important that the incumbent has good knowledge on local customs, import-export and transport regulations, road transport safety management and practices.

 

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION  

  • Diploma/Degree (Hons) in Business Management / Supply Chain Management or equivalent.
  • 10 years & above of experience in logistic business development with a solid understanding of successful business and management practices, preferably in warehousing business (3PL), haulage, freight forwarding covering land, ocean and air freight businesses. 
  • Proven business growth and results-driven leadership, mindset and behaviours.
  • Deep knowledge of Industry and Market customers segmentation and product pricing in freight forwarding, warehousing and haulage businesses.
  • Good working knowledge about customs regulations, import-export practices, land, ocean and air freight, consolidation, customs brokerage and related value-added information services

    LOGISTICS OPERATION MANAGER

    Direct Reporting To: CEO

    This role will be a key member of the Star Glory Group Logistics Leadership team, and is responsible for the full management of all the logistics operation activities and services, and supports the Logistics Business General Manager to deliver the business results profitably, safely and with satisfied customers, for the organisation to meet the short to long term company’s business and strategic needs. In this logistics business, this role provides services that cover planning, operations, safety, warehousing, haulage and customer services. As this role has bottom-line profit responsibility down to Net Income Before HQ Overheads and Tax level (NI1), it is very important that this role is able to help grow the business profitably by ensuring the most efficient and safe operations at the lowest costs and highest customer service levels.  

    ACCOUNTABILITY                                                                                                                                             

    Strategy and Development

    • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice logistics strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance

    Warehousing                 

    • Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
    • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
    • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
    • Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
    • Ensure safe stacking and good housekeeping at our warehouse are met all the time.
    • Conduct regular stock takes of our inventory and achieve 100% inventory accuracy by reconciling with the data storage system.

    Haulage

    • Direct the activities of staff in relation to haulage operations within the company on duties like dispatching and tracking/monitoring of transportation vehicles.
    • Ensure delivery, frequency of delivery and routing are as efficient and as cost-effective as possible, meeting the high HSSE standards.
    • Monitor the general operations of a staff of the transportation department to make sure that their operations are within the guidelines, safety measures, government orders, and administrative policies.
    • Ensure all trucks are properly maintained and cost-efficient.
    • Ensure that all the relevant drivers and trucks licenses are monitored and renewed on time.
    • Ensure that the daily vehicle inspections and Tool Box talks for the drivers are carried out effectively.
    • Make recommendations for the acquisition of new equipment or the replacement of old ones.

    E-Fulfilment

    • Manage all functions and departments within the fulfilment centre including Receiving, Inventory Management, high volume Pick, Pack & Deliver, and Customer Returns.
    • Assure that correct Pick, Pack & Delivery processes are followed the SOP set.
    • Review and report on customer returns, delivery errors, and damages.
    • Collaborate with other department managers including Customer Service, Purchasing, Marketing to ensure that all system and process gaps are flagged, and that process change is implemented effectively in the warehouse.
    • Ensure all B2B and B2C are fulfilled within the agreed SLA.

    People Management

    • Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
    • Maintains warehouse and haulage staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
    • Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
    • Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required
    • Ensure that all functions under supervision operate in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of staff and visitors

    Financial Budget and Control

    • Hold responsibility for department budget Relationship Management
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all connected with the logistics process
    • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations/customs regulations and legal and health and safety requirements.
    • Support new business initiatives and projects and contribute to review meetings and change processes. Ensure effective logistics implementation takes place relating to the changes.

      STRATEGIC FINANCE MANAGER

      This role will be a key member of the Star Glory Group Leadership team and is responsible to develop, documenting and implement all goals, policies, priorities and procedures related to all financial management, business planning, budgeting, accounting activities for the organisation to meet the short to long term company’s business and strategic needs. This role is expected to be hands-on and participative to lead a team and is critical to partner the Directors and the leadership team. This role analyses the economic stability of the company and provides financial information to other departments, enabling these departments to make budgeting and investment decisions. This team will report on costs, productivity, margins and company expenditures to help improve the overall profitability of the company, down to Net Income After Tax (NIAT) level.

      ACCOUNTABILITY 

      • Update and implement all necessary business policies, governance and controls, taxation, finance and accounting practices.
      • Improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
      • Collate all financial reporting materials, analyse and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner, and clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements.
      • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process.
      • Provide insightful information and expectations for the CEO with long term and short term strategic planning processes and update the plans for the company.
      • Administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
      • Seek out methods for minimising financial risk to the company. Reporting to management and stakeholders, and providing advice on how the company and future business decisions might be impacted
      • Conduct regular latest estimates (LE) and sensitivities reviews to monitor progress against the plan year’s target, and take appropriate intervention actions as required.
      • Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
      • Implement a robust contracts management and financial management and reporting system
      • Lead the reviews of financial statements and business performance with management and leadership team.
      • Ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
      • Effectively communicate and present critical financial matters to the board of directors.
      • Directs and participates in cost analyses and productivity studies.
      • Establishes system controls for the maintenance and development of new financial systems and procedures to improve existing financial and accounting systems.
      • Plan and organise internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
      • Coordinates preparation of the annual audit process and materials liaise with external auditors and finance committee of the Board of Directors, and external financial reporting.

      EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION

      • Bachelor's degree (Hons) in Finance, Accounting or Economics. Professional qualifications such as Chartered Accountant, Chartered Certified Accountant or Certified Public Accountant will be considered a plus.
      • 8-10 years of experience as Finance and Accounting Manager, preferably in duty-free, import & export knowledge, transportation, warehousing, and forwarding business.

        FINANCE ANALYST

        Direct Reporting To: Strategic Finance Manager
        Location Base: HQ

        This role will be a key member of the Star Glory Group Finance and Accounting team and is responsible to develop, documenting and implementing all financial business planning, budgeting, performance reviews and appraisals for the organisation to meet the short to long term company’s business and strategic needs. This role is expected to be hands-on to lead analysis of the company’s financial performance, to report on costs, productivity, margins and company expenditures to help improve the overall profitability of the company, down to Net Income Before Tax (NIBT) level.

        ACCOUNTABILITY

        • Administer, monitor and review all financial plans and budgets on monthly basis; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
        • Lead the 5 years strategic financial planning process for the company.
        • Owns and continuously improve the design of the company’s accounting hierarchy levels reporting system.
        • Develop the internal and external auditing plan, processes and manage the auditing program with the appropriate resources.
        • Analyse current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures.
        • Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analysing causes of unexpected variance.
        • Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis as of and when required by the stakeholder.
        • To prepare quarterly and monthly financial reports, partnering with the business in improving processes.
        • Implement and work with a Business Intelligence Tool and Dashboard reports.
        • Improve performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understand ROI in marketing programs, menu pricing, new store rollouts as well as new projects.
        • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives.
        • Analyse complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision-making purposes.

          This role will be a key member of the Star Glory Group Logistics team, and is responsible for deliveries and keeping customers updated at all times, acknowledgement of deliveries.

          ACCOUNTABILITY                                                                                                                                               

          • Have a good knowledge and familiarise of road maps and direction.
          • Must be friendly and courteous towards the customers.
          • Obeying the rules of the road and following company safety regulations.
          • Ensure zero damage during transit.
          • Responsible for upkeep of the vehicle on daily basis before starting.
          • Good time management and make sure no delay in deliveries.
          • Assists in loading and unloading goods onto/off the vehicle.

          EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION

          • Possess a valid GDL driving license and motorcycle license.
          • Good driving records. At least 1 year of delivery experience with familiarity in e-fulfilment or courier service.
          • Able to work independently with multitasking abilities and able to take work pressure.
          • The ideal candidate needs to possess good self-discipline.
          • Must have good attendance records and come to work on time.
          • Must be willing to work on shift.
